The viability of E6- and SO(10)-based superstring-inspired models with gauge symmetry including SU (2)R or U(1)T3R factors is considered. The analysis of the neutrino mass and proton decay problems, as well as of low-energy values of sin2θW and other phenomenological consequences, is performed
