Description

Energy and angular correlations of the d+9Be → d+d+t reaction products at 3 and 4 MeV incident deuteron energy have been investigated to study kinematics of three-particle reactions. Experiment geometry and technique are described. Two-dimensional energy spectrum has been produced for the 9Be (dt)2α reaction. Experimental data processing by means of the two-dimensional spectrum has shown that the mechanism of the three particle reaction under investigation differs from the mechanism of simultaneous breakup into three noninteracting particles. Presented is the calculation of the spectrum determined by the state density function for three loci of the reaction under study along which the information is distributed. The reaction proceeding is possible in three channels: 9Be+d → t+8Be* → t+α+α; 9Be+d → α+7Li* → α+α+t. Angular distribution of decay products of 4.63 MeV 7Li nucleus state being excited during an intermediate state of the reaction under investigation has been obtained. Given is triton and alpha particle energy dependence on an registration angle of the second reaction product for different positions of maximum contribution of various 7Li* and 8Be* nucleus states. It is noted when analyzing the nature of energy dependence obtained that even in case of the total kinematics analysis only measuring the angular correlations of product energies of the reaction under investigation will permit to identify intermediate nucleus states. Presented are the 9Be(dt)2α reaction products spectra produced by information projection from loci on the E1 detector energy axis (THETA1=45 deg) for different angular positions of another detector. The analysis of angular and energy correlations of three particle reaction products points to the successive mechanism of proceeding the reaction. The states of 4.63 MeV 7Li* and 2.94 MeV 8Be nuclei are predominantly excited during intermediate stages of the reaction under investigation. Discovered asymmetry of angular distribution of 4.63 MeV 7Li* nucleus state decay products shows the state polarization during the first reaction stage
