Thickness dependence of magnetic properties of NdFeB thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy

Description

The magnetic properties of NdFeB thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA), deposited on Ta substrates, has been studied as a function of thickness. The perpendicular magnetic anisotropy though exists over a wide range of thickness, the trend indicates that the PMA would vanish at larger values of thickness. The cause for this trend is found to be the deterioration in the perpendicular c-axis orientation for larger values of thickness. The coercive force was found to increase with decreasing thickness. This increase also seems to correlate with the c-axis orientation
