Spectral distribution and flux profiles of the NRAD reactor

  • 1. American Microsystems Inc., Pocatello, ID (United States)

Description

This paper outlines the theory, procedures and results of an experimental project that began under the auspices of the 1979 Graduate Nuclear Engineering Institute at Argonne National Laboratory - West and was completed through a thesis-parts appointment at the laboratory. The work involved the determination of the spectral distribution of a neutron beam that is used for neutron radiography and measurements of flux profiles in the reactor core where the neutrons originate. Neutron activation techniques provided the data in both cases. These methods were chosen as they provided a straight forward means of making the required measurements
