Description
The hypothesis of formation of symmetric complexes of the type μHe+(2s1/2)Hen in an atmosphere of pure helium is discussed in connection with an investigation of the feasibility of experimental observation of P-odd effects in the muon γ transition 2s1/2 → 1s1/2 due to weak neutral interaction between the muon and nucleus. Estimations of the conversion rates of the 2s1/2 → 1s1/2 transition of a muon on the electron shell of the complexes for n=4 (tetrahedron) and n=6 (octahedron) are made within the framework of the relativistic variant of the Xα-SW method. It is shown that the rate of the process is several tens of times greater than the experimental value for the total μHe+(2s1/2) decay rate in pure helium at pressures P=7-50 atm. However, the rate is in agreement with the results of independent measurements carried out at P=6 atm
