Description
61 men with breast enlargement underwent mammography; complementary sonography was performed in 34 cases. Diagnoses included gynaecomastia in 53 cases, pseudogynaecomastia in 9 cases, 3 carcinomas, 2 inflammatory lesions and 1 lipoma. Mammography and sonography can differentiate reliably true gynaecomastia from pseudogynaecomastia. Gynaecomastia and especially inflammatory lesions may not always be readily differentiated from carcinoma. Sonography can be helpful by demonstrating hyperreflexive glandular tissue, whereas carcinomas are usually hypoechoic. (orig./GDG)
Abstract (German)
Bei 61 Patienten mit einer einseitigen oder bilateralen Vergroesserung der Brustdruese wurde eine Mammographie und in 34 Faellen eine ergaenzende Sonographie durchgefuehrt. Es wurden 53 Gynaekomastien, 9 Pseudogynaekomastien, 3 Karzinome, 2 entzuendliche Laesionen und 1 Lipom diagnostiziert. Sowohl mammographisch als auch sonographisch kann die echte Gynaekomastie mit Sicherheit von der Pseudogynaekomastie unterschieden werden. Die klinische und mammographische Differenzierung zwischen Karzinomen, bestimmten Formen der Gynaekomastie und insbesondere entzuendlichen Veraenderungen kann schwierig sein. Die ergaenzende Sonographie kann in vielen Faellen wertvolle Zusatzinformationen erbringen. (orig./GDG)Additional details
