With regard to the fact that on future implies more questions than answers it is quite logical that the chemical industry urges these topics in particular. This has happened again at the general meeting of the Verband der Chemischen Industrie held in Duesseldorf from 6th-7th November 1980. The statements made in the two lectures held there were far beyond their own interest since chemistry is closely linked to other - even to all - branches of industry and plays an outstanding role from the economic point of view. That is why the Association presents these comments to a broader public. In a detailed study the author approaches the issues of energy policy in the eighties. Thus, he is dealing with a problem which shall be of particular importance for the chemical industry as a great consumer of energy carriers also as raw material. (orig.)

Es ist zwingend, dass sich die chemische Industrie gerade jetzt, wo es im Hinblick auf unsere Zukunft mehr Fragen als Antworten gibt, mit diesen Themen besonders intensiv beschaeftigt. Dies ist erneut auf der Mitgliederversammlung des Verbandes der Chemischen Industrie geschehen, die vom 6. bis 7. November 1980 in Duesseldorf stattfand. Die beiden dort gehaltenen Vortraege gehen in ihrer Aussage ueber das eigene Interesse weit hinaus, weil die Chemie eng mit anderen, ja fast allen Wirtschaftszweigen verzahnt ist und auch volkswirtschaftlich eine ueberragende Rolle spielt. Deshalb macht der Verband beide Ausfuehrungen einer breiteren Oeffentlichkeit zugaenglich. Dr. Karl Wamsler, Praesident des Verbandes der Chemischen Industrie, beschaeftigt sich mit der heutigen Situation der Chemie zu Beginn unseres Jahrzehnts. Professor Dr. Hans K. Schneider, Direktor des Energiewirtschaftlichen Instituts an der Universitaet Koeln, geht in einer ausfuehrlichen Betrachtung auf die Aufgaben der Energiepolitik in den achtziger Jahren ein. Er behandelt damit ein Thema, das fuer die Chemie als grosser Verbraucher von Energietraegern - auch als Rohstoff - von besonderer Bedeutung ist. (orig.)Additional details
