Effect of gamma irradiation on the mosquito Culex Pipiens complex L. Pretreated with radioprotectors glutathione and mexamine: The effect on certain biological aspects. Vol. 4

Description

The Ld50/24 h of glutathione and mexamine solutions were obtained by applying concentrations of 2.25%, and 0.26%, respectively to o-h old pupae of C. Pipiens. Also, the optimum exposure time (OET) was 20 minutes for glutathione and 10 min. for mexamine. A depressing effect was recorded in the percent of adult emergence after pretreatment with either glutathione or mexamine as compared to emergence after pretreatment with either glutathione or mexamine solutions and gamma irradiation. pretreatment with either glutathione or mexamine had no significant effect on sex ratio.
