Multilevel relaxation phenomena and population trapping: [Progress report], July 1, 1988--June 30, 1989
Description
This report summarizes the new results obtained in the past nine months from July 1, 1988, and the research work in progress. Our work deals with various aspects of multiphoton absorptions and radiations when a multilevel quantum system interacts with an intense laser field. We shall report in particular some exciting new developments on what we called the ''counter-intuitive'' way of exciting a three-level system, and a new theoretical prediction giving the conditions for lossless propagation of simultaneous solitary optical pulses through an atomic medium. 12 refs
