An analysis of the economic effects of global warming on Finland

  • 1. Research Inst. of the Finnish Economy, Helsinki (Finland)

Description

The purpose of the project concerned is to evaluate the potential influence of global warming on Finnish economy and well-being during the next 50 to 100 years. In order to achieve this goal a cost-benefit analysis will be conducted which produces a quantitative estimate of the economic and partially non-economic effects of the climate change projected to happen in Finland. The analysis will utilise the natural scientific evidence produced by other SILMU projects in partial sector models. Also a broader view of the phenomena and the possibilities for restricting greenhouse gas emissions will be briefly discussed and surveyed. However, as the project has just begun this article concentrates on methodological issues and a survey of literature
