Thermodynamics for the formation of maleanilic acids complexes of lanthanide(III) ions

Description
The thermodynamic stepwise stability constants, free energy and the enthalpy and entropy changes for the formation of the complexes of lanthanide(III) ions with maleanilic, p-chloro maleanilic, p-bromo maleanilic, p-nitro maleanilic and p-methoxy maleanilic acids were determined. The values of log KI increase regularly except for gadolinium. Analysis of the thermodynamic data indicates chelation of maleanilic acids through nitrogen of secondary amide and carboxylate groups.
