Crystal and molecular structure of a complex between 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane and 2,4-dinitro-2,4-diazapentane

Description
A molecular complex between 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane (I) and 2,4-dinitro-2,4-diazapentane (II) was obtained, and its x-ray crystal structure was determined. Crystals of the complex are monoclinic. The unit-cell parameters are: a=10.720(3), b=11.683(3), and c=11.098(3) A; γ=114.55(2) deg.; V=1264.3(5) A 3; sp. gr. P21/n; and Z=4. The composition of the complex is I:II=1:2. The molecular conformation of I in the complex is close to that observed in the β-form of I. Intermolecular contacts of I and II in the complex correspond to normal van der Waals interactions
