Estimation of sonic velocity in molten UO2 by an internal pressure approach

  • 1. Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India). Materials Development Lab.

Description

The internal pressure approach reported earlier, interrelates the critical temperature Tc, the sonic velocity C, the molar heat capacity Cp and the density p to facilitate the computation of one of these parameters which is more difficult to determine experimentally. This paper discusses the variation in the sonic velocity computed for molten UO2 over the range 3120 (Tm) to 6000 K by employing different sets of data on Cp and p as a function of temperature and also of different values of Tc reported in the literature.
