Superconductivity at 38 K in the single layer oxychloride without cation substitution

Description
A new oxychloride superconductor with the highest Tc of 38 K was synthesized at 6 GPa and at 1000 deg. C from the starting composition Ca2CuO2Cl2+x + yO2 (x=0.18-0.5, y=1.5). It had a single CuO2 layer Ca2CuO2Cl2 type structure. Two possibilities were suggested for the origin of the hole carrier, Ca2CuO2Cl2+δ with excess chlorine ions and Ca deficient Ca2-xCuO2Cl2
