Detectors for particle identification time-of-flight, dE/dx, and transition radiation

Description
Three techniques that have been used successfully in a number of experiments to identify the species of the particles produced in interactions and decays are discussed; time-of-flight, mean ionization loss (dE/dx), and transition radiation. The physics principles on which each is based are given and also some examples of their use in experiments
