A method of decomposition of animal tissues for the determination of volatile radionuclides and its testing on the determination of 210Po in bovine liver

  • 1. National Radiation Protection Institute, Prague (Czech Republic)

Description

A simple and relatively rapid (5-6 days) method of wet ashing of soft animal tissues using freeze-drying and ultrasound assisted decomposition is described. Using small volumes of nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide to decompose the organic matter, the method is superior to the conventional methods which are based on larger volumes of nitric acid and its combinations. The method was tested on the determination of 210Po in bovine liver
