Temporal stability of silicon photodiodes
Description
The absolute spectral responsivity of various silicon photodiodes from different manufacturers are measured in the wavelength range of 250 nm to 1200 nm during several years. Some types of diodes are stable in time in a very limited spectral range, only. These - very common -photodiodes show rates of changes of responsivity up to more than 10% per year even in the visible range. Very similar results for various samples of the same type of diode suggest a very type-specific spectral character of aging. There are indications that photodiodes with thin SiO2 coatings tend to better stability
