Two-phase flow regime in a vertical narrow rectangular channel

Description
An adiabatic vertical two-phase flow of air and water in a vertical narrow rectangular channel with 2x40x1400mm was investigated experimentally. To obtain the objective characteristic of flow regime, an impedance void meter is used to measure the time series void fraction in a narrow rectangular channel, and the high-speed camera is used to take images of flow regimes. Four typical flow regimes, namely, bubbly flow, slug flow, churn flow, and annular flow are found, and the characteristic of the time series void fraction and PDFs are analyzed. PDFs of bubbly flow and slug flow are same with Jones and Zuber. However, two kinds of PDF are found for churn flow and annular flow, respectively. (author)
