Increase in efficiency of the radiation method for purification of waste water as a result of blowing off contaminants into the gas phase and design of a recirculation loop

Description

In the study of radiolytic decomposition of acetone transferred from aqueous solution to the gas phase, the authors found that the effective rate constant for the process of decomposition of acetone in the gas phase is substantially higher than in aqueous solution. The rate of such a process is determined (all other conditions being equal) by the acetone concentration in the gas discharged under a beam of accelerated electrons. The limiting concentration in the gas phase in this case is the equilibrium concentration with the solution at the given temperature. Consequently, if the acetone concentration is held constant in the phase phase and is close to the equilibrium value, then the efficiency of the decomposition process will be very high. However, the practical realization of such a method is connected with technical difficulties. As an example of a possible realization, the authors consider a system for removal of acetone impurity from waste water
