A simplified method for relative percentage profile measurement in irradiation volume of gamma chamber-900

  • 1. Radiation Safety Systems Div., Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Dose distribution profile measurement in Type I irradiators like Gamma Chamber - 900 requires use of specially designed jigs for reproducible irradiation geometry. A simplified jig was fabricated from a 1 mm thick perspex sheet, while 2 ml centrifuge tubes were used as dosimeter containers. Dose profile along the central vertical plane of the irradiation volume of Gamma chamber-900 was measured using FBX dosimeter. These results were further confirmed using Fricke dosimeter. Maximum variation obtained between dose values measured by both systems is within ±2%. (author)
