Electron involving processes during radiolysis of diethyl ether at 77 K

Description

By the EPR method electron involving processes in γ-irradiated glass-like diethyl ether have been studied. In pure diethyl ether the stabilized electron radiation-chemical yield is equal 1.2, whereas CH3CHOCH2CH3 radicals - 2.7. Under the action of visible light the stabilized electrons perish by release from the trap and subsequent radical capture. In the glass-like diethyl ether with additives of c-phenyl-N-tretbuthylnitron (PBN) 3x10-4-0.2 mol/l the total yield of paramagnetic particles practically is independent of PBN concentration and coincides with the total yield 3.9 in pure diethyl ether with PBN low concentrations the dark transfer of stabilized electrons from physical traps onto an acceptor (probably by tunnel mechanism) with formation of PBN anion-radicals occurs
