The program of the Shanghai Environmental Specimen Bank (SESB) has been developed recently and its current status was briefly described. Typical specimen such as water and sediment of Suzhou river, city dust were collected and some analysis results obtained since 1998 were presented. Moreover, relating aspects of environmental data evaluation and assessment were discussed
