Emission of light particles in heavy-ion reactions
Description
A review is made of the available experimental data on sources of light-particle emission in heavy-ion collisions in the energy range 5--20 MeV/nucleon. The information obtained by means of these light particles about the reaction mechanism and the properties of highly excited nuclear states is analyzed. Particular attention is devoted to nonequilibrium processes of emission of neutrons and the hydrogen and helium nuclides. The importance of correlation measurements for identification of the interaction mechanism is discussed. The main theoretical methods used to describe the emission of nonequilibrium particles in heavy-ion reactions are also discussed
