The effect of composition deviation on the properties of nuclear waste glasses, 1

  • 1. Government Industrial Research Inst., Osaka, Ikeda (Japan)

Description

The effect of composition deviation in nuclear waste glasses on the electrical conductivity were measured from below Tg to 1200 deg C. In the cases of all waste oxides and Na2O contents increasing, the conductivities rose in one order of magnitude because of increasing Na2O contents in both glass series. But changing of rare earth oxides and ZrO2 contents had little effect on conductivities. These conductivity changes were not so large that it is not necessary to consider a trouble with composition deviation in the practical operation of ceramic melter. (author)
