On the nature of influence of isomorphous β-stabilizing elements on tendency of α-titanium alloys to corrosion cracking in chloride aqueous solutions
Creators
Description
Literature data on the effect of β-stabilizers (V) on the sensitivity of titanium alloys to corrosion cracking in HCl 1% solution are generalized. It is pointed out that a decrease in the tendency for corrosion cracking is related to suppression of α2-phase isolation and it depends on α-solid solution oversaturation. The concentration of phases is determined by heat treatment conditions. Annealing or plastic deformation in β-region result in the highest efficiency of alloying with β-stabilizers of Ti-Al system alloys
