Dry powderizing method for decomposed liquid wastes of spent resins

Description

Purpose: To process decomposed liquid wastes after oxidizing decomposition of spent ion exchange resins into stable dired powder. Method: Decomposed liquid wastes discharged from a process of adding hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid or sulfuric acid to the slurry of spent ion exchange resins thereby oxidatively decomposing them are dried and powderized. In the course of the drying powderization, a non-volatiling alkaline component by more than an equimolar amount of non-volatiling alkaline component in the decomposed liquid wastes to be evaporated in previously added to the liquid wastes. The pH value in the decomposed liquid wastes is thus always kept in a alkaline region to suppress the formation of organic acids which are the major factor of hindering the powderization to thereby cause solidification and thus the powderization can be performed stably.
