Indications for densitometry in children
Description
Osteoporosis in children is defined as the occurrence of clinically significant fractures and Z-score for bone mineral density less or equal to -2SD. Examination of bone mineral density by dual X-ray absorptiometry is essential for the diagnosis of osteoporosis (primary and secondary) as well as for the monitoring of the effectiveness of the treatment.
