Description

Experimental data obtained by processing pictures from the 2m propane chamber exposed to carbon nuclei with a momentum of 4.2 GeV/c per nucleon are presented. The interaction cross sections of secondary multicharged fragments having charges Zsub(f)>=3 at a distance of more than 10 cm from the primary vertex are systematically larger than the expected cross sections of the corresponding nuclei in the ground state. The cross sections of fragments having Zsub(f)=5 and 6 are by approximately 10% larger than the expected value. The experimental data on characteristics of γ quanta which accompany the production of fragments with Zsub(f)=5 and 6 do not contradict the statement that, except γ quanta from the decay of π0 mesons, there are low energy γ quanta with isotropic angular distribution in the fragment rest system. The contribution of γ quanta from hadron bremmstrahlung is observed
