Fusion cross section from chaotic scattering
- 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, ul. Radzikowskiego 152, PL-31-342 Krakow (Poland)
Description
Dynamics of scattering in the classical model of α-cluster nuclei is studied in terms of transport theory. Behavior typical for hyperbolic chaotic scattering is found, which results in an exponential decay of the survival probability. This allows a determination of the unitarity deficit of the S matrix and thus the probability for compound-nucleus formation
