Search for the vacancy annealing stage in heavy ion implanted bcc metals
- 1. Louvain Univ. (Belgium)
Description
Lattice damage induced by implantation of radioactive 133Xe in the bcc metals Mo, W and Ta has been studied by Moessbauer spectroscopy, on the 81 keV transition in its daughter nucleus 133Cs. The hyperfine interactions of the probes are sensitive to that part of the damage which interacts with the Xe impurities. It is known from experiments on Xe implanted in Fe that the large Xe atoms interacts only with vacancies. The sensitivity to vacancies enables a study to find the vacancy recovery stage of the implanted metals. (Auth.)
