Crystal Structure Change At The Thermal Decomposition Of Thorium Oxalat

  • 1. Centre for Research and Development of Advanced Technology, National Atomic Energy Agency, Yogyakarta (Indonesia)

Description

The experiment of Thorium Oxalat thermal decomposition have been done by Thermogravimetry Analyzer (TGA). The decomposition product, which are still in Thorium Oxalat and to be ThO2, was combined with crystal structure analysis for de terminating the optimum operation condition of Thorium Oxalat thermal decomposition. The specimens for X-Ray Diffraction Analysis, which were influenced temperature and time as variables, were produced by muffle furnace. Based on X-ray diffraction curve, the changing of crystal structure from the amorf to be face centered cubic with fluorite type were not at 360oC but at 600oC with the heating time 3 hours. The data are enclosure with ThO2 powder morphology
