Description
The Nuclear Shell Model evolved from a course on theoretical nuclear physics taught at the University of Gent. The theory is developed starting from introductory chapters on tensor algebra and angular momentum. The independent-particle model and the state-of-the-art of self-consistent calculations are developed in great detail. 100 problems, worked examples throughout the text, and a MS-DOS diskette including simple FORTRAN programs for numerical applications allow the student to become familiar with the methods of this field.
