Generation of colliding gravitational-electromagnetic waves by means of the Harrison transformation

  • 1. Moskovskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ., Moscow (USSR)

Description

In the case of cylindrically symmetric metrics allowing for two-parameter Abelian groups of motions with two-dimensional space-like transitivity surfaces, the conditions of existence of colliding waves are extended to solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations generated by means of the Harrison transformation. On the example of the 6-parameter electromagnetic generalization gS-tilde(a, b, c) of the vacuum solution S-tilde(a, b, c) the solution gS-tilde(a, 0, -1) is obtained which represents the field arising from the collision of gravitational-electromagnetic waves and generalizes the Ferrari-Ibanez vacuum metric
