Detector development for the magnetic spectrograph, sect 6.2
Description
Several detectors were developped for use at the QMG/2 spectrograph. A prototype two-dimensional detector has been built and tested. It is based on a combination of drift techniques and conventional readout systems. In addition, a 100% transmission drift chamber has been constructed also for use in the focal plane. For time-of-flight measurements, a fast timing signal and an energy signal which are position independent can be obtained with a plastic scintillator system to be combined by position sensitive detection by means of drifting techniques. Particle identification can be done by means of the energy signal in combination with the ΔE signal from a drift chamber. A prototype of such a system has been tested. Further developments concern the electronics for delay line readout of the anode pulse of the drift chambers
