Modified aluminium dodecaboride
Description
In order to illustrate the role of Be as modificator in aluminium decaboride (α-AlB12) the electric conductivity as a function of temperature, current-voltage characteristics, and optical absorption spectra of α-AlB12 and (AL0.9Be0.1)B12 crystals were studied. Results demonstrate that Be has the effect of a modificator like hydrogen in amorphous Si, Ge. The bands of localized states show a complete analogy of the density of states (DOS) picture of modified α-AlB12 and a-Si. The gaps are wider and the values of DOS are lower in modified materials but the positions of DOS peaks are constant
