Expectations and challenges for domestic production of medical RIs

Since many radiopharmaceuticals are made from overseas radioisotopes (RIs) in Japan, we experienced many troubles in their supply. Recently, the projects about the domestic production of medical RIs are carrying out under the leadership of the government, but there are many issues concerning these projects such as the operation of nuclear reactors and accelerators, the transportation of large amounts of RIs, and public financial support.
