The kinetics of the radical reactions in gasous chloro- or fluorohydrocarbons
- 1. Podlasie Univ., Siedlce (Poland). Dept. of Chemistry
Description
Complete text of publication follows. The major loss processes for chloro- and/or fluorohydrocarbons (RHX) in the atmosphere are reactions with OH radicals resulting in generation of halogenated alkyl radicals which then react with atmospheric oxygen to form peroxy radicals RXO2. In the atmosphere these radicals react most often with NO and/or NO2. We report here results from the pulse radiolysis studies of the atmospherically relevant reactions of the peroxy radicals originated from gas mixtures containing RHX (RHX = CH3Cl, CH3F, C2H7Cl or C2H7F). The radicals were generated by 12 ns pulse of 350 keV electrons from SINUS accelerator deposited to RHX/O2/SF6 gas mixtures, while the transient radicals were monitored by UV absorption measurements
