Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory project. Annual report of project in FY2004

The report consists of five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, the second chapter is abstract of the Mizunami Underground Research Laboratory project, the third the investigations and progress state of construction of facilities until FY2003, the forth investigation and the construction plan in FY2004, and fifth the schedule of investigation and construction work in FY2004. The plans in FY2004 contain investigation of geological structure of the research laboratory site, rock mechanics, hydraulics of rock, geochemistry of groundwater, investigations of laboratory site (the first and the second step), development of basis of engineering technologies on the deep underground, and construction work of facilities on the laboratory site.
