Quality assurance and documentation at KfK in waste treatment
Description
As a rule, primary waste first undergoes a pretreatment which gives rise to intermediate products. These are further processed, conditioned into waste forms, and completed as waste packages. The preliminary conditions for repository storage serve as a basis in conditioning and packaging. Waste packagings and waste forms are produced on the basis of quality manuals and conditioning manuals containing all the details about materials, treatment, testing, and documentation. These steps have been split up and assigned in such a way that effective in-house surveillance within KfK is possible without the risk of administrative units checking on their own performance.
