Large scale production of the Hungarian neutron mutant rice variety 'Nucleoryza'

  • 1. 'Marcius 15.' MTSz MULTIRADIACIO, Hernad (Hungary)

Description

A new Hungarian rice variety of short breeding time has been developed based on the French variety 'Cesariot' keeping its advantageous characteristics to produce a rich harvest and to be resistant to diseases. The seeds were irradiated by a fast neutron dose of 25 krad. In the beginning of the 80s the new variety 'Nucleoryza' substituted the former ones taking up nearly the whole sowing area. (V.N.)
