Study of vanadium interaction with trihydroxyfluorones

Description
Reactions between vanadium (4, 5) and 24 derivatives of 2,3,7-trihydroxyfluorones (THF) have been examined spectrophotometrically. It has been shown by e.p.r. studies that V(5) is reduced to V(4). A complex with a component ratjo V(4):THF=1:2 forms within, a pH range 2-7. The reactions become more contrast in the presence of cationic surfactants. Propyl-, salicyl-, dibromophenylfluorones can be recommended as most sensitive reagents for spectrophotometric determination of microgram amounts of vanadium
