Description

The key research activity was focused on 1) HI concentration/decomposition, 2) bunsen reaction, and 3) sulfuric acid decomposition. Electro dialysis to concentrate HI has been suggested to be very promising for high efficient IS cycle with the assist of membrane reactor. A key issue was to reduce the over potential in electro dialysis. The over potential could be reduced with high temperature operation, reducing amount of activation potential. The optimal reaction condition for the Bunsen reaction has been investigated at 90∼130 .deg. C. The sulfuric acid decomposition with a platinum lining reactor was conducted at 5 bar and 900 .deg. C. Iron oxide based catalysts were moderately stable in sulfuric acid decomposition
