Pionic contribution to the N-Δ transition quadrupole moment

Description

The pionic contribution to the scalar and longitudinal p→Δ+ transition quadrupole form factor is calculated. It is shown that the πN channel contributes + 0.032 - i 0.066 fm2 at the photon momentum q=471 MeV (E2/M1=+ 1.4 - i 2.9%). Because this value is much larger than the typical constituent quark model prediction, one should be careful in comparing experimental data and theoretical predictions
