Ignition tokamaks
- 1. Commission of the European Communities Abingdon (UK). JET Joint Undertaking
Description
The conditions for thermonuclear ignition in tokamaks are analyzed. Concerning confinement time, the expressions for limiter-bounded discharges are given. The depletion factor is calculated for the JET dominant impurities in the central plasma. The variations of the pressure ratio versus the safety factor are examined. Based on JET experimental results, the parameters of a JET-like device to reach ignition conditions are estimated and discussed
