Antiproton spin physics with internal polarized target
Description
A project to insert a polarized internal hydrogen or deuterium target in LEAR is discussed. To reach the desired target thickness of 10/sup 14/ polarized atoms/cm2 requires the use of a storage cell. Successful tests of storage cells that permit 400 wall collisions without significant depolarization are reported. The proposed spin filter experiment to partially polarize the circulating p-bar beam by spin-selective attenuation of p-bar in the polarized hydrogen target is reviewed and examples of specific planned experiments are presented
