Electrical properties of Topopah Spring tuff as a function of saturation
Description
Estimates of water content in unsaturated regions based on electrical properties such as resistivity and dielectric permittivity depend on reliable laboratory measurements. We report measurements on three tuffs from Yucca Mountain, Nevada as a function of water saturation at 23 degrees C. Hysteresis is observed between the wetting and drying phases. Measurements made over a range of frequency verify measurements made at a single frequency and provide additional information about conduction mechanisms and microstructural parameters
