Preparation of strontium 82 from a metallic rubidium target using a 100 MeV proton beam

  • 1. RAN, Moscow (Russian Federation). Inst. Yadernykh Issledovanij

Description

Medical radionuclide of strontium-82 has been prepared as a result f metallic rubidium target irradiation by up to 100 MeV protons. The yield of strontium-82 amounted to 0.57 mCi/μA·h and higher. Chemical isolation of strontium has been realized by dissolving metallic rubidium in isobutanol with subsequent transfer into chloride, sublimation of organic phase and isolation of rubidium on cationite. The product obtained featured a high radionuclide purity. 10 refs., 4 figs., 5 tabs
