Quantification in emission tomography. Attenuation, scattering and partial volume corrections
Description
The objective of this lecture is to understand the possibilities and limitations of the quantitative analysis of emission computed tomography images. It is also to identify the conditions to be fulfilled to obtain reliable quantitative measurements from images. Content: 1 - Introduction: Quantification in emission tomography - definition and challenges; quantification biasing phenomena; 2 - Quantification in single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), problems and correction methods: Attenuation, scattering, un-stationary spatial resolution; 3 - Quantification in positron emission tomography (PET), problems and correction methods: Attenuation, scattering, fortuitous coincidences; 4 - Partial volume effect in SPECT and PET: problems and correction methods; 5 - Synthesis
