Description
Quantitative on line analysis of reaction product and sweep gases has been conducted at BETA experiments by means of quadrupole mass spectrometry. Data obtained allow estimation of the reaction gases during the interaction of a simulated core melt with concrete. The main gases that develop during this interaction are hydrogen and water vapour. Other gases that appear are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and a small amount of methane. During the course of the experiment gas production is high in the first minutes and continues at relatively low levels later in time. Plots of the integrated gas release versus time are given in the report. (orig./DG)
