Description
A fully-automated dose mapping system for the TRIUMF biomedical pion beam has been developed which can use the low intensity and unstable beam available to map the radiation fields that will be used for biological experiments. The system is operated by a minicomputer via CAMAC interfacing. An exploring detector is moved in a water phantom by means of a three-dimensional scanner. The incident beam is monitored by a transmission ionisation chamber. The measured dose data are stored as a matrix of numbers for each of the measured planes and isodose contours are computed from the data matrix. Final maps are plotted on an electrostatic printer-plotter. (author)
